About the Organization

Arts Center Task Force (ACTF) is the 501c3 nonprofit working to build the Mid-Columbia Performing Arts Center; a state-of-the-art venue and gathering space that will provide a home for the numerous arts organizations already active in our community and advance the cultural and economic vitality of the Tri-Cities.

 

Overview of the Position

The executive director is responsible for leading the effort to build a performing and visual arts center that will advance the cultural and economic vitality of our region. This is a full-time exempt position with responsibility for managing two full-time staff who oversee a studio and office space. The Executive Director will:

  1. Work with the Richland Public Facilities District and City of Richland to build the Mid-Columbia Performing Arts Center.

  2. Be the primary spokesperson for the organization to volunteers, community members and key stakeholders.

  3. Manage the day-to-day activities of the organization in collaboration with its paid staff.

  4. Supervise the recruitment and management of volunteers that will help carry out the organization’s mission.

  5. Work with the ACTF Board on strategic planning, communications, fundraising, and financial management.

Required Qualifications

  1. Successful experience in non-profit management.

  2. Excellent presentation (speaking and writing) skills in both small and large group settings.

  3. Thrive in highly collaborative environments as well as have the ability to work independently.

  4. Demonstrated ability to adapt to new situations and have a flexible approach to ongoing efforts.

  5. Ability to cultivate and steward new relationships.

  6. Excellent organization skills and experience with online computing, fundraising, and database management.

  7. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

  8. Demonstrated fiscal responsibility in managing budget income and expenditures.

  9. Ability to keep sensitive information in strict confidence.

Job Description

Leadership Duties

  1. Maintain a high profile within the community as the formal representative of Arts Center Task Force. Maintain effective relationships with the Board of Directors, donors, the media, and the general public.

  2. Establish and maintain relationships with key organizations throughout the region and state and use those relationships to strategically enhance the Task Force’s mission.

  3. At the appropriate time, organize and guide the campaign to approve a tax measure to help fund the Mid-Columbia Performing Arts Center.

  4. Work with the Board of Directors to create and implement the strategic plan.

  5. Work closely with all Committee Chairs, but primarily communications and fundraising, to ensure the proper execution of their goals.

  6. Work with the Board Chair to refine the vision and descriptions for ad-hoc committees and assist committee chairs in implementing activities if requested by them.

 

Management Duties

  1. Help plan and manage the annual budget.

  2. Work with the Board to establish employment and administrative policies as well as procedures for all functions and day-to-day operation of the organization and its facilities.

  3. Oversee management of the organization’s calendar.

  4. Work with the Communications Chair and Committee to assist with marketing and other communications efforts.

  5. Work with the Fundraising Chair to manage donor relations through the invoicing of donations, acknowledgments, and other donor relations as assigned by the Board of Directors.

  6. Work with the Finance chair to assist with policies, monthly record keeping, and other operations efforts.

  7. Hire, supervise and collaborate with organization staff as well as be responsible for terminating staff if the need arises.

  8. Maintain company’s files including personnel records, contracts, grants, community relations, and donor information.

  9. Attend all Board of Director functions including meetings and events.

  10. Review and forward contracts for approval.

  11. Ensure that bills and invoices sent to Employer are promptly paid or resolved.

  12. Manage e-mail and phone calls both to and from the organization either personally or through a delegate.

  13. Ensure that the ACTF database and website are maintained and up to date.

  14. Other agreed-upon duties as assigned by the Board of Directors.
